Simple but great song – chords worked!

Well that’s good to hear. I like to play it in G rather than what’s written here (D) or what the Youtube video uses (F). This song is flexible like that because it doesn’t use a very wide range of notes. I’m going to put a transpose button in sooner or later…

I think that it is a cute song. We sing it to our 2 and 3 year old children in Sunday school.

I don’t personally care about the chords as I play no instrument but I grew up (in my Christian life) singing this song in Bible clubs, Sunday school, Children’s church, etc to the children I helped teach. It has always been one of my favorite songs for the story. Glad to have the second verse again. I had lost it during our travels across the USA as missionaries.

I am searching for a book that has all these songs in it for piano and voice and lyrics because our current church pianist can only play by ear.

    George says:

    Hi Parletta,

I’m sorry I don’t know of any books that have these songs written for piano. If your pianist can only play by ear then I would think that a book with notes would be useless, but rather they would need to hear an audio version of the song, and that the chords would be helpful. Some of the pianists at my church play these simple songs by ear as well.

In Chrome and Firefox, you just right-click on the MP3 icon and click “Save link as…” from the context menu that popped up. It’s probably very similar in other browsers.

I’m so happy to have this website. I sing these songs that I learned as a child to my grandson as I put him down for a nap. I had make up the words and tunes before now.
