This is a great song. I was looking for small childrens’ songs to teach the kids in the choir at church camp next week. Out theme this year is prayer so I think I will be using this song for sure.

Remember singing this in Belgium in the 70s. Used to do it in Dutch, then French then English. Only the first verse and we sang “if you want to grow” not “and you’ll grow grow grow”.

Never seen that shrink verse before and to be honest I don’t like it.
From memory the Dutch and French words are:

    Lees je bijbel
    bid elke dag…….
    Als je groeien wilt.

    Lis ta bible,
    pris chaque jour….
    Si tu veut grandir.

How to pronounce the Dutch version:
    Lace yer baybel
Bid elker dach (ch as in Scottish loch)
    Uls yer groo-yern wilt.
