Hi Rita, I’m glad it helped improve your lesson! I actually attended a Christian school kindergarten in the early 80’s and I never forgot a couple of the songs I learned there.

Have known this song a long time, but recently in two different locations, the
ministers referred to this song or on the subject of “Obedience” I used this
song years ago with children’s choirs. It’s great for all ages. The message is
    so RIGHT.

Thanks for sharing this song. It was suggested to sing in my children’s church lesson for the Wiseman and the Foolish man. I have never heard this song before. It seems strange though that I have not since I have sung School songs forever.

I am writing a VBS curriculum on the life of Elijah and one of the themes is obedience. I would love to include this song in the music guide for the curriculum. Would you grant me permission to publish the lyrics and link in the curriculum? Thank you for considering this and I look forward to hearing back from you.

    George says:

Hi Amanda, I didn’t write any of these songs. It may be by Ron & Shelly Hamilton as was mentioned elsewhere on the web, but I don’t have any confirmation of this. I think you would be fine to reproduce this because it’s not really claimed by anyone when I search for it. Links to this site are always appreciated.

I really appreciate your providing access to this song and lyrics. I remembered parts, but not all of the words. It will be a great addition to the teaching this Sunday as the children hear that Adam and Eve chose not to obey God. The song speaks volumes to children.

My wife & I reared 4 daughters, 4 sons; have w3 GRANDchildren & 3 GreatGRANDchildren – whom all either have learned or will that Children´s Obedience Hymn/Song. My wife, who just retired from El. School (2nd grade) at 71 Memorials Day, 20q8. She added a couple of “Mantras” that their public school allowed:
    Q. How do we obey?
    A. Immediately; Cheerfully; Unconditionally; and Completely.
    1- Immediately means, “The first.
    time – every time.”
2- Cheerfully means, “With a smile.
    on your lips.”
    3- Unconditionally means, “Without
any reward – no candy, cookies …
    yes, you’ll get a thumb´s😎👍up!!!
4- Completely means, “Do it A to Z”
    Told to clean your bedroom,
    make your bed; don´t push
    dirty clothes under your bed.
    ***The OBEDIENCE Childrens´ Song
    ***How Do We Obey
***What do those 4 Rules Mean

Oh thank you R.J. for the “mantra” of the Obedience Song. That is a very multimodal way of instilling this so neglected Godly trait. Thank you again.
